Conexión anómala total de venas pulmonares variedad infracardiaca: Un defecto congénito inusual en Neonatología

Main Article Content

Abstract

Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a congenital heart defect that represents less than 1.5% of children born with any heart defect, with a poor prognosis for those who do not undergo timely surgical correction. A case is presented of a male neonate, 2 days old, who was admitted with a clinical picture of respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation. After further studies, he was diagnosed with TAPVC, followed by corrective surgery, a torpid evolution, and death at 14 days of life. The objective of this report is to illustrate the management and clinical presentation of an infrequent pathology, which also corresponds to an unusual variety.
